- Calling it his "warning shot to the industry," the chief economist of the American Trucking Associations, Bob Costello, foresees a grim future for the supply of truckload drivers in the U.S. over the next eight years. However, he remains optimistic on the trucking industry overall as it is undergoing its best period of growth in years and should remain strong for the next 18 months before softening.
