Reminder About Operating Cranes Around Powerlines

- OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week will be celebrated next month and SC&RA is reminding members to take extra precaution when working around powerlines. Powerlines are deadly for crane operators as historically they have caused a third or more of crane related fatalities through electrocution. Crane owners who want to keep their employees safe from electrocution and be OSHA compliant can view this short clip to learn more about SC&RA’s video on Operating Cranes Around Powerlines. The video and accompanying booklet were developed in accordance with OSHA’s requirements for use during the training and planning process. By understanding the dangers of cranes around powerlines, operators can reduce their chances of becoming injured or suffering loss of life.
