During the 2010 Specialized Transportation Symposium, March 2-4, The Westin Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Ind., Steve Keppler, Executive Director of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, will discuss how the oversize/overweight transportation industry can effectively form partnerships with enforcement personnel to provide safer and more effective transport of cargo. The session is one of several devoted to safety.Register before January 14 for Early-Bird discounts.

Twenty-eight of 70 available booths already have been reserved; SC&RA anticipates selling all available booths well before the event. Last March, the SC&RA Board of Directors entered into an agreement with Association Benefit Resources (ABR) to market, manage and sponsor an association medical plan, underwritten by UnitedHealthcare. Aside from premium discounts of up to 5 percent for new eligible groups with UnitedHealthcare, this new health insurance program has the potential to create an SC&RA Insurance Medical Trust.
Early next year, SC&RA members will be given an opportunity to update their listings for the Association’s 2011 Membership Directory. SC&RA has transitioned to a system in which all changes will be made online. All official representatives at member companies will receive a fax and an e-mail with log-in information and step-by-step instructions for updating the listings.
Those purchasing anything beyond the basic listing that is included with membership dues must pay in advance.
A panel that includes Robert Moore, Brent Moody and Ron Kipp of NBIS. will discuss the use of technology in risk management at the SC&RA Specialized Transportation Symposium, March 2-4, 2011, at The Westin Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Ind.

(FAIRFAX, Va.) December 13, 2010 – The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) now offers a free mobile app for instantly accessing all necessary crane hand signals. The new app is available in the iTunes App Store and Blackberry App World.
Every signal included is compliant with the new OSHA Cranes and Derricks Standard, Appendix A to Subpart CC of Part 1926-Standard Hand Signals. Each signal is shown graphically so that operators can quickly and easily reference the appropriate signal for each command.
