The Park Hyatt Aviara, San Diego, Calif., has agreed to extend the cut-off date to December 17 for SC&RA’s groups rate of $250 for the January Board & Committee Meetings, January 5-8, 2011. Previously, the special rate was available until December 10. However, December 10 is still the final day that members can pay meeting registration fees without incurring an additional fee of $50 each.
Online meeting registrations, hotel reservations, and general information about the event are available through the SC&RA website.
If your company is considering a booth at the Exhibit Center during SC&RA’s 2011 Specialized Transportation Symposium, you should sign up soon. Only two of 29 booths are still available. The Exhibit Center will be open on the first two days of the Symposium, March 2-4, at the Westin Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Ind. No other events will take place during the Exhibit Center hours.

Many high school students and their parents are in the process of figuring out their top college choices – and how to pay for them. The SC&R Foundation may be able to help through its 2011-2012 scholarship and grant program. Applications are now available online.
Scholarships up to $3,000 will be awarded to students attending four-year colleges and universities.
Congratulations to Morrow Equipment, winner of SC&RA’s drawing for a 16g Apple iPad, valued at $500. The company, which has been a member since 2008, automatically qualified for the drawing along with 822 other member companies since their annual dues were paid December 1. SC&RA urges members to increase their efforts to recruit new members before the end of 2010. Members who help sign up at least three companies during the year automatically are announced as recipients of the prestigious President’s Award at the next year’s Annual Conference.
Jones Loflin, co-author of Juggling Elephants, has been selected as a keynote speaker for SC&RA’s Specialized Transportation Symposium, March 2-4, 2011, at the Westin, Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Ind.
On December 9, from noon to 1:30 p.m. (Eastern Time), SC&RA, in partnership with the KHL Group, will present a webinar on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s new standard for cranes and derricks in construction. Bill Smith, Senior Vice President, Risk Management, at NBIS will summarize the standard and steps crane and rigging businesses must take to comply and avoid citations. He also will provide information on the American Society of Mechanical Engineers B 30.5 2007 mobile cranes standard.
