Additional Research for Future Policy Efforts

SC&RA was selected for two research projects, one for the National Academy of Sciences TRB studies, including the feasibility of interstate compacts as a method to achieve long term permit and enforcement harmonization, and a second by FHWA for implementation of USDOT’s emergency route task force report, first published in 2018 to ensure supply chain resiliency during and after natural disasters. SC&RA is also enjoining a nearly completed project designed as a toolkit for State DOT’s. The toolkit will feature several video interviews by SC&RA members discussing how the industry is not only impacted by disruptions, but how it also plays a critical role in response and recovery.
