  • The Road to Change - Anne Mahlum’s compelling personal story and work with “Back on My Feet”, a nonprofit organization combatting homelessness through the power of running, is a powerful and inspirational example of how change happens. Anne will reveal how we all need the same things in life to grow and succeed - to be noticed, to be appreciated, to be valued and to be cared for. She will demonstrate that altering the way we see ourselves and our circumstances is at the core of change and that only then can we begin to move out of our comfort zones and create significant adjustments in our lives.
  • Bridging the Gap Between Compliance & Choice - In any company environment, employees must follow rules and it’s the manager’s job to make them comply. Using SC&RA’s new Severe Weather Guidelines as an example, Troy Pierce, Vice President HSE, TNT Crane & Rigging, Inc. will explain best practices for managers who want to introduce new practices and rules to employees, and what it takes to change behaviors from compliance to choice.
  • Mobile Cranes on the Move: Using New OS/OW Rules to Your Advantage – Cranes can now be efficiently moved while reducing risk. However, one permitting mistake could cost your company millions of dollars. Steven Todd, former Department of Transportation (DOT) official and current Vice President of Transportation for SC&RA, explains how to take advantage of a recent federal government ruling on mobile cranes to maximize your time and budget. All aspects of securing permits and working with law enforcement and government officials will be covered.
  • Calculating Sling Angles & Hardware Selection - Learn how to calculate reduction factors, tension factors and the effects of angular loading on hardware. Although the working load limit of the hardware is very important it is not the only determining factor when selecting rigging hardware. Sam Socolow, Product Application & Training Manager, Ashley Sling, Inc. will share how WSTDA Synthetic Safety Bulletins and the most overlooked and obvious resource--owner’s manuals--can be used to identify hazards and reinforce proper inspection prior to use.
  • An Attorney’s Point of View: Playing Offense with OSHA – Take control of your company’s compliance by knowing your rights and responsibilities. Michael Rubin, Partner Attorney with Golberg Segalla LLP, will discuss strategies for managing an inspection – including rights and responsibilities – when an OSHA inspector is on site. Also, learn ten practical tips on how crane and rigging companies can boost their compliance efforts and minimize their risk.
