SC&RA Presents 2018 Transportation Safety Awards

(CENTREVILLE, VA - May 9, 2018) - The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) recognized a number of individuals and companies with Transportation Safety Awards during the Association’s 2018 Annual Conference, April 17-21, at the Boca Raton Resort and Club in Boca Raton, FL.

Eight SC&RA member companies received a Transportation Zero Accidents Award for having no recordable accidents:

• Bulldog Hiway Express, North Charleston, SC
• BOSS Crane & Rigging – Longview, TX
• George Young Mammoet – Swedesboro, NJ
• Global Specialized Services, LLC – Casper, WY
• KMX International – Hamburg, PA
• Precision Heavy Haul, Inc. – Tolleson, AZ
• Perkins STC – Northfield, MN
• White Brothers Trucking Company – Wasco, IL

Six SC&RA member companies received a Transportation Fleet Safety Mileage Category Award for having the lowest accident frequency rate in different mileage categories in 2017:

• 100,000 miles to 500,000 miles – Precision Heavy Haul, Inc. – Tolleson, AZ
• 500,000 miles to 1.5 Million miles – Global Specialized Services – Casper, WY
• 1.5 Million miles to 5 Million miles –  Bulldog Hiway Express, North Charleston, SC
• 5 Million miles to 20 Million miles – Maxim Crane Works, LP – Wilder, KY
• 50 Million miles to 100 Million miles – Bennett Motor Express – McDonough, GA
• Over 100 Million miles - Landstar Transportation Logistics, Inc. – Jacksonville, FL

Three SC&RA member companies earned a Fleet Safety Improvement Award by showing a reduction in their accident frequency rate for miles traveled, compared to their previous year accident frequency rate:

• Barnhart – Memphis, TN
• Bennett Motor Express – McDonough, GA
• Landstar Transportation Logistics, Inc. – Jacksonville, FL

Seven SC&RA member companies received a Fleet Safety Award for obtaining an accident frequency rate of less than 0.45 during all of 2017:

• BOSS Crane & Rigging – Longview, TX
• George Young Mammoet – Swedesboro, NJ
• KMX International – Hamburg, PA
• LeFebve & Sons, Inc. – Elk River, MN
• Perkins STC – Northfield, MN
• Trans-United Inc. - Burns Harbor, IN
• White Brothers Trucking Company – Wasco, IL

Two professional drivers from one SC&RA member company were recognized with the Million Miler Safety Award. The Million Miler Safety Award recipients each accumulated a minimum of one million consecutive miles of safe driving within the industry:

• LeFebve & Sons, Inc. – Elk River, MN – Michael Belanger and Chad Claassen

The following Driver Safety Awards recipients each accumulated five years of accident-free driving:

• Barnhart – Memphis, TN – John Barrett
• Bennett International Group – McDonough, GA - Violet Helferich
• Berard Transportation, Inc. – New Iberia, LA - Clay Bonnet
• Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental – Milwaukee, WI - Tory Burgess, Robert Foulker, Paul Hare, Steve Lemminger, John Michalak, Andrew Scherer, Thomas Wojak
• Dun-Rite Specialized Carriers – Bronx, NY– Anthony Conetta, Mario Hernandez Mendoza, Lynard Smith
