SC&RA Publicly Releases Qualified Operator
Evaluation Forms Ahead of Deadline

- The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) has made publicly available its newly developed Qualified Operator Evaluation Forms for both mobile and tower cranes ahead of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s (OSHA) crane operator evaluation and documentation requirements becoming effective on February 7th, 2019.

Generated in response to the November 9th, 2018 publication of OSHA’s final rule on operator training, certification and evaluation requirements, the forms assist industry stakeholders in meeting the stipulations set forth in Section 1926.1427(f) – Evaluation. Notably, the section states that employers must, through an evaluation process, ensure operators are qualified to operate the machine to which they are assigned.

“When OSHA released its final rule last November,” said Beth O’Quinn, SC&RA Senior Vice President, Crane & Rigging, “we immediately engaged our Crane & Rigging Group Safety and Tower Crane committees to develop Qualified Operator Evaluation Forms for both mobile and tower cranes. After receiving countless industry requests to obtain the proprietary forms, we’ve decided to make it free and publicly available to achieve a consistent standard across the industry.”

SC&RA is a longtime advocate for fair, equitable and reasonable legislation within the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industries, and these forms will assist SC&RA members and industry stakeholders in their efforts to attain compliance prior to the February 7 deadline.

The forms are available for immediate download here.
