SC&RA ANNOUNCES 2024 TRANSPORTATION SAFETY AWARD WINNERS  

- CENTREVILLE, VA. – The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) announces its 2024 Transportation Safety Award winners. The recipients will be recognized at the Association’s 2024 Annual Conference, April 15-19, at the Omni Barton Creek, Austin, Texas. SC&RA Transportation Safety Awards are based on an Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) less than or equal to 0.45. Applications are then broken into seven separate mileage categories, awarding the company with the lowest AFR within each category. Zero Accident Awards are awarded to companies who meet the criteria noted above plus zero recordable accidents as defined by the National Safety Council. Eight SC&RA member companies received a Transportation Zero Accidents Award for having no recordable accidents:

  • Advanced Freight Dynamics LLC – Conroe, Texas
  • Berard Transportation, Inc., New Iberia, La.
  • Global Specialized Services, LLC, Casper, Wyo.
  • Kauff's Transportation Systems, West Palm Beach, Fla.
  • KMX International, Hamburg, Pa.
  • Nexgen Transportation, Acheson, Alberta, Canada
  • Precision Heavy Haul, Inc., Tolleson, Ariz.
  • Trans-United Inc., Burns Harbor, Ind.
Six SC&RA member companies received a Transportation Fleet Mileage Category Award for having the lowest accident frequency rate in different mileage categories:
  • 100,000 miles to 500,000 miles – Precision Heavy Haul, Inc., Tolleson, Ariz.
  • 500,000 miles to 1.5 Million miles – Berard Transportation, Inc.– New Iberia, La.
  • 1.5 Million miles to 5 Million miles – Trans-United Inc. – Burns Harbor, Ind.
  • 5 Million miles to 20 Million miles – Barnhart – Memphis, Tenn.
  • 20 Million miles to 50 Million miles – Maxim Crane Works, L.P. – Wilder, Ky.
  • Over 100 Million miles – Landstar Transportation Logistics, Inc. – Jacksonville, Fla.
Four member companies earned a Fleet Safety Improvement Award by showing a reduction in their accident frequency rate for miles traveled, compared to their previous year accident frequency rate:
  • Miller Transfer – Rootstown, Ohio
  • Maxim Crane Works, L.P. – Wilder, Ky.
  • Barnhart – Memphis, Tenn.
  • NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul, Acheson, Alberta, Canada
Six member companies earned a Fleet Safety Award for endeavoring to constantly improve their safety records:
  • Advanced Freight Dynamics LLC – Conroe, Texas
  • Nexgen Transportation, Acheson, Alberta, Canada
  • KMX International – Hamburg, Pa.
  • NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services Ltd. – Acheson, Alberta, Canada
  • Global Specialized Services, LLC, Casper, Wyo.
  • Kauff's Transportation Systems, West Palm Beach, Fla.
This year, five professional drivers from an SC&RA member company were recognized with the Million Miler Safety Award. The Million Miler recognizes drivers who have accumulated a minimum of one million consecutive miles of safe driving within the industry:
  • Landstar Transportation Logistics, Inc.  – Jacksonville, FL: Bruce Bryant
  • Berard Transportation, New Ibera, LA– Keith Daigle
  • Miller Transfer – Rootstown, OH:  Jasper Chandler, George Jones, Herbert McIntosh
Finally, the following Driver Safety Award recipients are being recognized for accumulating five years of accident-free driving:
  • B&G Equipment and Supply – Birmingham, Ala.: Stephen Powell
  • Barnhart – Memphis, Tenn.: Scottie Montet
  • Advanced Freight Dynamics – Conroe Texas: Robert Jones
  • Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental, Inc. – Milwaukee, Wis.: Steve Lemminger and Karl Jablonski
  • Doral Equipment Rental – Menomonee Falls, Wis.: Arthur Ramirez
  • Highway Heavy Hauling – Portland, Ore.: Gerald Lawson
  • Ideal Crane Rental – Madison, Wis.: Curt Benson, Brad Bauer, Derick Cripps, Kent Hendrickson, Brad Kozlowski, Ryan Nell, Brett Sands and Scott Short
  • Roll Group – Dayton, Texas: Scott Caughman and Ricky Suire
