Capital Location Brings in Federal Level Officials & Labor Union General Presidents

- Next week, SC&RA will host the 2022 Annual Conference in Washington, DC. Leveraging the location, the Association will provide members access to high-level government officials and labor union general presidents. The schedule and appearances are as follows:

April 26
Crane & Rigging Group Safety Education & Training Committee – 8:45 a.m.
Scott Ketcham, Director, OSHA’s Directorate of Construction, will present on OSHA’s current initiatives,  and the upcoming Cranes & Derricks Compliance Directive.

Permit Policy Committee – 9:00 a.m.
Permit chiefs from the three regional jurisdictions are scheduled to give updates including Laura MacNeil and Elliot Garrett, D.C. DOT; Tina Sanders, Maryland DOT; and Brandi Thorpe, Virginia DMV.

Crane & Rigging Group Labor Committee – 10:00 a.m.
General President James Callahan, International Union of Operating Engineers and General President Eric Dean, International Union of Iron Workers, will address current union activities, issues, and initiatives. Transportation Group Safety Education & Training Committee – 11:00 a.m.
Adrienne Gildea, Deputy Executive Director, CVSA, will address the Committee.

Wednesday, April 27
Transportation Group Governing Committee– 9:00 a.m.
Nikki McDavid, Chief of FMCSA CDL Division, and Nicole Michel, FMCSA Research Division will discuss the new Apprentice program, among other major initiatives at FMCSA involving driver retention and recruitment, automation, etc.
