ICSA Continues Work on Crane Safety Guidance Documents

- The International Crane Stakeholders Assembly (ICSA) met virtually February 9 to continue its work on several crane safety guidance documents. At the top of the February ICSA virtual meeting agenda were three guidance documents: Mobile Crane Ground Preparation for Wind Farm Construction; Working with Mobile Cranes on Floating Barges; and Using Mobile Cranes for Pile Driving/Extraction Work. Discussions at the meeting focused on timelines for completion mid- to late-summer 2021. Other topics of concern for the global crane industry included regional standards and regulations, weighing mobile cranes with portable scales, and data loggers.

ICSA has already completed three guidance documents including: Leaving Mobile Cranes Unattended; Lifting of Persons with Mobile Cranes; and Lifting a Load with Several Mobile Cranes. These documents are available on the ICSA website.

The next meeting of the group will be June 15, 2021 to continue guidance document development. For more information, contact Beth O’Quinn.
