Mobile Crane Import Taxes Topic of SC&RA Governing Committee Meeting

- In response to a petition from Manitowoc Cranes, the Secretary of Commerce launched an investigation to determine what effect imports of mobile cranes has on national security.  A notice appeared in the May 26th Federal Register seeking comments on issues relevant to their investigation. Since then, SC&RA has fielded many calls and emails regarding the impact of a possible import tax would have on their businesses, the industry, and the economic impact due to the higher taxes assessed.  Please see a copy of the press release here. Crane & Rigging Group Chair Randy Sever is calling a meeting of the Governing Committee on Thursday, June 18, 1 – 2:30 pm (EDT) to discuss and formulate SC&RA’s comments.  The meeting is open and any SC&RA member is welcome to participate. Register in advance for this meeting here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Beth O’Quinn.
