SC&RA Meets With European Union Ambassador Over Steel Tariffs
(December 18, 2025) -SC&RA CEO Joel Dandrea, along with members Mike Appling, LiftHigh Crane & Rigging, and Toni Sabia, Transport Products & Service Enterprises, met with Jovita Neliupšienė, Ambassador of the European Union to the United States, on Wednesday, December 17, to discuss steel tariffs, specifically, high-tensile steel manufactured in the EU. The group discussed with Ambassador Neliupšienė the desire to work cooperatively to get relief from the tariffs for ultra-high-strength steel for which there is no, or very little, supply in the U.S. and which is essential for products like cranes and specialized trailers. “While SC&RA supports U.S. manufacturing, there are certain products not manufactured in the U.S. that are required to build America and keep pace with construction schedules within fair and practical budgets,” said Dandrea. “We need relief from tariffs on ultra-high strength steel now as critical infrastructure projects are happening and our member companies are struggling to plan purchases of equipment to address this need,” Dandrea explained.
