SC&RA Urges Congress to Fully Fund Transportation Reauthorization Bill

- This week, SC&RA joined several transportation, construction, manufacturing, and other related industries to urge Congressional leaders in the House and Senate to enact a 2022 budget that fully funds the increases in spending promised by the transportation reauthorization bill last November. Because Congress was unable to enact its 2022 appropriations bill on time, federal funding at its previous levels has instead been continued through February 18, foregoing the 20% of increased highway spending promised in the IIJA. That major increase in infrastructure spending will not only create new opportunities for SC&RA members to serve their customers, but also includes spending levels for key federal grant programs states can use to acquire and update their automated permitting systems. SC&RA continues to applaud the work of the Congress for enacting the IIJA last year and encourages the same bipartisan leadership in 2022 to finalize annual spending levels as soon as possible.
