SC&RF Board & Research Committee Requests Your Participation in Workforce Study
(November 11, 2020) - SC&RF is partnering with the CII Research Team to collect information on the state of the workforce in the construction industry for a study called "Modeling the Composition of the 2030 Construction Workforce." The overall objective of the project is to understand the status of the construction industry workforce, and upon examining that and past trends, attempt to model the composition of the construction workforce in 2030. From this knowledge, the researchers hope to recommend policies to bridge the gap between the expected 2030 construction workforce and the required 2030 construction workforce.
The Foundation is urging SC&RA members to participate in this survey to ensure the data in our sector of the industry is being captured by these broad industry studies. As we analyze data from studies and work with researchers in this space, we have concluded that the studies may not be as applicable to our sector of the industry due to lack of specific data from our companies. To remedy this, participation by SC&RA member companies - and their employees - is critical.
The surveys are confidential and anonymous. Please consider asking or requiring employees in these job areas to complete the survey online (see links below for job area surveys) or by paper and return to Dr. Tim Taylor at the University of Kentucky by email (tim.taylor@.uky.edu). Job areas include: Project Manager; General Foreman; Assistant Project Manager; Foreman; Superintendent; Assistant Superintendent; Craftsperson/ Journeyman; Apprentice/Helper; Craft Superintendent; or Other.
