FAA to Address Aviation Obstructions at Crane & Rigging Workshop

- The Federal Aviation Administration’s Obstruction Evaluation Group (OEG) will review the evaluation process, filing procedures, lighting requirements for cranes plus more, including an in-depth look at their new website for the construction industry at SC&RA’s Crane & Rigging Workshop, Sept. 18-20, Glendale, Ariz. Registration opens May 29.

The OEG has launched this new website as part of its efforts to provide outstanding customer service for the construction industry. The website content provides the industry with one place to go for all FAA information on the obstruction evaluation process and is based on the lessons learned and feedback from the FAA’s engagement with industry. Previously, people interested in the obstruction evaluation process or filing notice would navigate several websites in order to obtain all the required information.

The new website lists and links to technical briefs, engineer briefs, marking and lighting specifications, Advisory Circulars, and the obstruction related forms, that may be required by sponsors filing notice with the FAA. The webpage also includes links for the public to contact the correct FAA offices and specialists in their states. For more information, visit the site.
