Longview Lift & Move USA Event Showcases Industry to 350 Students

- Teachers and administrators from East Texas had high praise for the Lift & Move USA event hosted by BOSS Crane & Rigging and Bennett International on Oct. 16, in Longview, Texas. About 340 students and 35 educators from more than 20 schools attended the event, which showcased career paths for specialized transportation, crane, rigging, and machinery moving operations.

“Lift & Move USA was an awesome day! Our students truly benefited from the event, which reinforced how we should be approaching students seeking alternatives to the ‘traditional’ college route. On the bus ride back and again the next morning, our students were still talking about the exhibits and career ideas. I even made a connection for obtaining CTE school credit for our students in heavy equipment certifications,” said David Chatterton Sr., Assistant Principal, Union Grove High School, Gladewater, Texas.

Cheri Lee, Student Services Support Specialist for Longview Early Graduation High School, said: “Lift & Move gave students helpful information as they plan their future career choices. The event was well organized and all presenters were thoughtful and intentional in presenting the value of careers available to our students right here in East Texas!”

The Longview, Texas event will be followed by one in Houston, hosted by Liebherr USA, at which more than 700 students are expected. “The crane, rigging and transportation community has turned out in full force to support these two events,” said Tracy Bennett, Lift & Move USA Director. “These events would not be possible without the support of SC&RA members with their equipment and subject matter expertise.”
