Workshop Spotlight: Design, Fabrication and Testing of Cantilever Beams & Triangle Plates

- The Crane & Rigging Workshop, Sept. 18-20, Phoenix, Ariz., will feature experts on a variety of subjects, and civil engineer Chad Fox, PE, Project Manager, ruby+associates, will share his love of structural engineering and technology in his session, Design, Fabrication and Testing of Cantilever Beams and Triangle Plates. He will explain how cantilever beams and triangle plates are valuable specialty rigging tools, but the engineering fundamentals behind their design and use are simpler than they may appear. This presentation will provide examples of commonly used rigging applications and will identify resources for design, fabrication, load testing and lift planning. Fox has worked on a number of impressive structures including a Manhattan project supporting 3.5 million pounds of steel, and the atrium to the new $862-million LEED Silver Certified Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
