New in Kansas: Escort Vehicle Providers Need to Register & Permit Fees Increase

- The State of Kansas now requires Escort Vehicle Companies (Escort Vehicle Service Providers) to be registered if operating in Kansas.  At a minimum, the Service Provider will be required for each vehicle to have insurance, as required by Kansas Statute 40-3104, and each driver shall have a valid license and complete a training course approved by the secretary. Escort Vehicle Service Providers can register their companies at In addition, Kansas has received approval from Secretary Lorenz for which states it is accepting successful completion of an escort vehicle training course.  Seven states accepted are: Colorado; Florida; Minnesota; North Carolina; Oklahoma; Utah; and Washington. Kansas also noted that permit fees have increased in 2020.
