Driving Force for Safe Truck Parking

As a member of the National Parking Coalition, SC&RA formally submitted comments in support of the "Jason’s Law Survey" and a comparative assessment of truck parking facilities in each state. SC&RA supports enhancing many current truck parking facilities that are out of date and cannot meet the needs of modern OS/OW tractor-trailer combinations – often due to small parking spaces and inadequate geometry for access, turning, etc.

SC&RA emphasized the severe parking shortages/challenges at or near state borders for the specialized transportation industry due to diverse permitting policies between states related to curfews, escorts and other permit-related policies.
