Petitioned California to Reconsider Proof Load Tests
SC&RA submitted a letter to the California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board requesting that they reconsider that proof load tests be based on manufacturers’ load ratings for the conditions of use, while not exceeding 110 percent of the maximum load ratings for the boom on the crane. The Board responded that the matter is of critical importance to the safety of crane operations statewide and should not be “piggybacked” on to this rulemaking proposal. Future plans involve petitioning the California Board as set forth in section 142.2 of the California Labor Code.
