SC&RA Produces Resource for Understanding Mobile Crane Bare Rental Agreements

- A new tool to help mobile crane companies protect themselves against unfair and biased agreements is now available to members as a free download. Understanding Mobile Crane Bare Rental Agreements was developed to assist members in understanding agreements for the industry. “In today’s world the contract and agreements are just as important as the rental. Without the proper protection, companies can open themselves up to unforeseen exposure,” said Jeremy Landry, Vice President, Deep South Crane & Rigging and Chair of SC&RA’s Crane & Rigging Group. “This guide gives good insight into clauses and contracts specific to bare rentals and some that can be eliminated or added in your favor,” he added.

The easy-to-understand document covers such items as:

  • How to read a lessor agreement;
  • Agreement provisions to watch out for;
  • Sample agreement clause/language;
  • Insurance requirements;
  • Indemnity or Indemnification;
  • Liens/payments;
  • Dispute resolution procedures;
  • Contract checklist;
  • Lessee requirements.
“We have found over and over that when we align as an industry, we are stronger. By utilizing this guide, we can make sure that we all are on the same page and therefore stronger in our approach to situations where customers want to redline and reject certain portions, thereby putting us at risk,” said Erika Sims, CEO/President, Sims HD, and member of the Crane & Rigging Group Governing Committee.
